The Brief

The client’s goal was to continuously expand the gym, adding more functional space as new arches became available. Each phase involved turning unused arch spaces into fully functional, aesthetically pleasing gym areas, while also upgrading facilities like changing rooms, offices, and reception.

Scope of Works

• Incrementally stripping out unused arches and converting them into gym space
• Installing rubber mat flooring suitable for CrossFit and Olympic lifting
• Painting ceilings and walls, creating aesthetically appealing and durable finishes
• Installing full electrical systems, including lighting and sound systems across all arches
• Building new changing rooms: showers, toilets, wash facilities, and hairdryers
• Creating a locker room for gym users
• Building a reception area with a retail shop
• Constructing an office space for gym administration
• Adding  a rentable upstairs hairdresser unit within one arch
• Installing laundry facilities for cleaning towels
• Running high-speed internet cabling and networking between all arches for seamless operation
• Regular ongoing maintenance and upgrades

Key Challenges

• Coordinating  work around a live business, ensuring minimal disruption to gym operations
• Integrating new arches into the existing facility while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic and functional flow
• Adapting to the unique architecture of railway arches (curved ceilings, limited space) while ensuring all safety and building regulations were met
